When you think of innovation in a hospital, the first thing that comes to mind is new medicines or surgical methods. At the Hermann-Josef Hospital in Erkelenz, this has another dimension. With decentralised fuel cell systems from Bosch, the Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, abbreviated SOFC, a sustainable energy supply with hydrogen is being created here.
To visualise the innovative use of Bosch technology in the highly sensitive environment of the cardiac catheterisation laboratory, I accompanied surgeons and nurses during the procedures for one day.
